Core Purpose & Improvements
ATG was developed as a replacement for the detail rendering system of Unity's terrain engine. Its primary goal is to eliminate **CPU spikes** caused by new grass patches rendering into sight as the camera moves.
In addition to the core performance fix, ATG provides significant improvements in visual quality, specifically regarding **lighting and wind animation**.
Note on Authoring:
ATG is **not an authoring tool**. It takes the grass and details *already* added to your terrains and takes over the rendering process. Runtime distributed grass is currently not supported.

Built-in Render Pipeline (BIRP)
Fully Supported (Initial Focus)
Universal Render Pipeline (URP)
Supported (Since v1.2), includes **Touch Bending** and Grass Displacement.
High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP)
Supported (Since v1.34). **Touch Bending is NOT supported**.
Supported URP Versions: 7.1.7, 7.2, 10.0+, 11.0+, and 12.1+.
Supported HDRP Versions: 10.0 and 12.1+.
Third-Party Authoring Integration
- **Compatible with:** Any 3rd party authoring solution that creates grass density maps for built-in terrains (e.g., **Terrain Composer, Map Magic** (non-runtime), **World Creator, Gaia**).
- **Third-Party Rendering:** Since v1.07, ATG supports solutions like **Vegetation Studio** and allows you to use ATG's advanced lighting and bending features within them (BIRP only).
